Your tuition does not cover lunch on training days; however, there are several restaurants nearby for your convenience. Study models and safety glasses are available for sale through our institute, and you will be responsible for purchasing your own laboratory jacket and healthcare scrubs. You will also need the following textbooks:
"Essentials of Clinical Dental Assisting", J.E. Chasteen, 9th Ed (2006), C.V.Mosby.
"Dental Radiology", Stephen R. Matteson, 5th Ed (1998), UNC Press.

Exam & License Fees

During the dental radiology course, you will be given an application for the board exam. The completed application must be returned with the $195 application fee in order to register for the exam. The state of Maine also charges a license fee that is good for five years and may be covered by your employer.

Clinical Healthcare Scrubs

To work in the clinic, you must have scrub pants, shirt, full-length lab jacket, and white leather closed toe shoes. You may choose any color scrubs you like; however, we recommend you stay with white or other light colors. Please do not wear your healthcare provider shoes on the street. Instead, bring them in a bag to ensure they stay clean and white. The Uniforms Express in South Portland offer a student discount.
